The Films Have Been Chosen!
It’s coming! Brno 16 is intensively stretching its muscles before setting off! From more than 600 submitted films, 39 films from 22 countries of the world have made it into the contest. The biggest number of films (as has become sort of a tradition) come from Poland and this year we have also quite the number of films from Iran. Other countries that will participate in the contest are for example Israel, China, Germany, Indonesia, the US, and others… Czech Republic will be represented by an atmospheric student film “Lesapán” by the director Pavel Soukup. And what will this year’s films be like? Above all, diverse. If you like genres, you may look forward to two homages to horror cinematography, one musical, and several comedies. Others might appreciate tough social dramas, animated films, experimental films, and many other surprises. You will also find out what all can possibly happen in a car wash, what it’s like to be a soccer mom in the US, or what kind of hits you could dance to at Romanian discos. The best film will be chosen by our international jury led by an Israeli filmmaker and researcher, Aner Preminger.
